The Inspector General’s Hotline (IG Hotline) is available to anyone wishing to report misconduct by employees of the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) or other individuals doing business with Caltrans.  For example, if you observe a possible violation of any law, regulation, or policy, including safety or privacy violations, the IG Hotline is a resource for reporting such misconduct to the Inspector General’s Office.  Also, if you identify possible theft, fraud, financial or other questionable practices, bribery, falsification of records or reports, and/or misuse or waste of state resources, the IG Hotline is a resource for reporting such misconduct.

Note:  The Inspector General’s Hotline is NOT a replacement for contacting any law enforcement agency to report a crime in progress or a crime that you believe has been committed. 

Instructions for reporting misconduct to the Hotline:  The IG Hotline telephone number is 1-844-283-8442. You may call 24 hours a day and 7 days a week to leave a voice message or contact us by email at ask.investigations@dot.ca.gov.  When reporting misconduct, please speak slowly and clearly, leaving, to the extent possible, a thorough and detailed message, which includes the following information:

1.  Your name.
2. Your telephone number.
3. The date and time for each incident of misconduct.
4. The location of each incident of misconduct.
5. The names of all parties involved.
6. A factual description of the misconduct that you are reporting.
