Marcus Bole brings more than 14 years of legal experience to his role as theThis is an image of Marcus Bole. Independent Office of Audits and Investigations (IOAI) Chief Counsel and Public Information Officer. Mr. Bole serves as the primary legal advisor to IOAI’s Inspector General and management staff.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Bole served as Senior Staff Counsel at the Board of Parole Hearings (BPH), where he advised and trained Governor-appointed Commissioners and Administrative Law Judges on various aspects of parole suitability hearings. In this position, he was the team lead over the Parole Reconsideration Hearing and Armstrong Legal Teams, as well as rotating as the Legal Officer of the Day. Prior to BPH, Mr. Bole served as Staff Counsel at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, where he litigated more than 1,000 administrative hearings and served as the Legal Liaison to the Associate Director of the Female Offender Programs and Services mission. Prior to being an attorney, Mr. Bole served as a seasonal firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection in Butte County.

Mr. Bole earned his Juris Doctor degree from Lincoln Law School of Sacramento, where he was awarded the American Jurisprudence award in Criminal Law and awarded Best Overall in Moot Court. Mr. Bole graduated from California State University, Chico, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration.
